3 March – It was in the garden of our grandma where one morning the wonder happened

It’s an obvious fact that everyone has a birthday. But amongst our many many Eurovision performers are those that don’t get the limelight as much as others. It’s important we celebrate these people.

As the whole circus is off to Switzerland in May, it’s apt that we can pick someone who was credited, but didn’t actually sing. In 1979, the Confederation sent a sextet to Jerusalem. Among them was today’s birthday boy Peter “Kniri” Knaus. Who is he I hear you cry? Well, he added to the Trödler & Co experience by playing shears, a plastic bag, a watering can, a rake and he blew a hosepipe. Matron. Oh, and he wore a smart red cap. If you’ve not seen this performance, it will keep you mesmerised for three minutes. As for the song, it finished tenth.

Kniri is 80 today.

Frohe Geburtstag/Bonne anniversaire/Buon compleanno, Rykka!
