Phil: The choice of the blue and silver costume is WRONG and someone needs to tell him immediately! Although it clearly does fit the style of the song, and for that the BBC must be applauded. It is clearly one of the better songs and performances in the contest that we have seen, and again, that is a plus point but the only thing I am worried about is whether or not it is going to be memorable enough for people to pick up the phone and vote for it. This is the main issue that other sites have with this song. Personally – I can see that it can get votes, it is an very ‘vote-able’ song but, and it is a big but, is it possible to get into the top fifteen? Possibly, but only just. But even that would be acceptable.
Nick: I don’t think it would be possible to better stage, sing or generally get an ounce more stuff out of this song than Andy’s actually getting from it (apart from the jacket, obviously, which is 50 shades of awful) – but then, my Reason For Doubt is simply that I do find the underlying song so… meh. What I think we’re trying to be is a cross between Tanel and Dave and the Olsens, which is not such a stupid thing to try to be. It’s all on Andy, really. If he can carry on the warmth and have fun on stage for three minutes next Saturday night, then disaster will almost certainly be averted!
Did I mention that I haven’t really arrived here with exaggerated hopes for the country of my birth?
