Forty years ago those cheese-cloth shirt-clad Eurovision fans were looking forward to a contest in The Hague. Wouldn’t you like to go back to the Netherlands for a contest sometime soon? It was a tiny contest of (only) 18 songs, so there was no ignominy of finishing 26th. Our friends in Greece sent a song that would get rave reviews in these cosmopolitan days of the 21st Century. But 40 years ago birthday girl Μαρίζα Κώχ/Mariza Koch could only finish 13th. A meagre 20 points was all she managed. She was robbed. Mariza is 72 today.
