ESC birthdays 23 March – Flowers for everyone

Lado Leskovar

Who remembers black & white? There must be some of you out there. And black & white in a city we’ve recently been to must be a bonus. I am, of course, talking about Vienna, even though it means nothing to me. It was the host city in 1967, when a mammoth 17 countries competed and gave the UK of stuff its first win after lots of runners-up spots. Austria even hosted the fabled Yugoslavia and it’s atmospheric Vse rože sveta sung by Slovene Lado Leskovar. He sang a protest song, wanting peace. Some things never change. Lado is 73 today.

Vse najboljše, Lado!
