If you think of songs from Israel, what springs to mind? Lots of silver and white-clad singers? Something upbeat with lots of sideways walking. Perhaps with Yizhar Cohen thrown in for good measure. So it’s nice when you come across completely different type of Israeli song. As luck would have it, the time we saw Israel in Zagreb they shunned happy-clappy and we got sultry Rita Yahan-Farouz singing about salt-tracks and what she does in the streets. Sing, if you weren’t sure. Rita is 54 today.
