So who is representing Iceland at Eurovision 2015?? -Maria Olafsdottir, thats who! She was one of Seven that will participate in the Icelandic Final. (not entitled songvappnin fluffykittens…). There was two semi finals of 6, one on the 31st Jan and the other on the 7th Feb – 3 went forward to the final + 1 wild card to the final on the 14th February.
The final had two rounds of voting, 50/50 to select the top 2 finalists and then Televoting to choose the winner of those two. In an unusual twist, you could choose your language before the final and NOT necessarily Icelandic (Which explains, in the list below, some name changes into English) and they were presented to Iceland on a show in the week of the National Final. The 7 finalists are listed below.
On the night, Once the superfinal had been decided there was a lot of time to vote and, at the end of it, Maria won!! ( only the winner was announced). She wins 1 million Kronor (about £4) and the prize of representing Iceland.
