Almost hidden amongst the sea of “goodness” this evening we also had Malta’s Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
This year they eschewed the live show at Ta’Qali and decided to pre-record the songs in one studio and then host the show in another at their TV Centre just outside Valletta. As the show was sponsored by Kinnie, and not Cisk, there were ubiquitous bottles of the stuff all over the place in the green room which was the highlight of the entire evening and if that is the case, you *know* that the standard of songs was… well… They even wheeled out their Junior representative, Yulan, and got her to sing her song and she was considerably better than most of the adult entries!
Televoting (7/9ths) and Jury (2/9ths) decided the winner and the show overran by at least an hour and a quarter and I needed oxygen to get through it!! Your result though :

In truth – it was the jury that paved the way here for Loop, a typically light Maltese piece of Pop. Disappointed is not the word I would choose to use, but is the one I am writing!
