After equalling Ireland’s record win total of seven, the Swedes have embarked on their quest for an eighth win, with their selection known as Melodifestivalen. ( You might have heard of it!)
It appears that they have made some changes to the format of the competition this year. They have reduced the number of songs in each semi-final heat to six. However, to compensate for this reduction, they have increased the number of heats to five. Additionally, they are eliminating the Andra Chansen / Semi-Final round entirely. As a result, two songs will proceed directly to the final while the 3rd and 4th place songs will go to a Play-off round. More details about the Play-off round will be provided later.
The first semi was held in the home of the 2024 Eurovision, Malmo and after the usual high qualify final the result was as follows :
