The Dutch have picked names from the Eurovision hat and decided who gets to front the 2020 Song Contest, when it rolls into Rotterdam next May.

The combined broadcasting brains have stuck to a recent trend of more heads being better than one and recruited a trio. It’s the regular mix of light entertainment presenter, singer and … someone else. Two for the heavy lifting, one to deliver scripted ad-libs and act the clown by annoying performers who want to leave the stadium and hit the post show party.

With small fanfare, we learned yesterday that we’ll be guided through three lives shows by precocious brat turned perma-tanned light entertainment schmooze-slick Jan Smit. Two-time Eurovision loser Edsilia Rombley … and ‘famous actor and presenter’ Chantal Janzen.

“When deciding on hosts, we first and foremost chose 3 people with a great deal of stage experience. They also happen to have started their career as singers,” says Sietse Bakker, Executive Producer Event of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
