Tonight we saw the first of the “Big Five” in action with France taking to our televisions/internets/phones etc and giving us a damn fine show.
After learning a lot about how to stage a decent selection, France 2 and ITV Studios Paris kept to the same formula and presented the first Semi Final of Destination Eurovision 2019.
Nine acts were whittled down to four after they sung their Eurovision songs and a couple of minutes of one of their faves, The “expert” panel and an international jury had a 50-50 say in the result shown below and, as you can readily see, the top 4 qualified for the live final on the 26th January.
Song | Performer(s) | |
---|---|---|
Hatrið mun sigra | Hatari | Q |
Eitt andartak | Hera Björk Þórhallsdóttir | Q |
Ég á mig sjálf | Kristina Skoubo Bærendsen | |
Nú og hér | Þórdís Imsland | |
Samt ekki | Daníel Óliver |
My only gripe is that this spectacular was timed for 165 minutes, surely that is too long for 9 songs and a bit of the old casting of votes?
[…] city there but what do you expect in this contest. If you had followed the results of the first semi, which you clearly have and haven't just clicked the link… I know you!!, you'd know the form. […]
