Have you ever wondered why our friends in Belarus can excel at the Junior version of our favourite TV show, but struggle at the big one? They do try, and you must give them credit for that.
As you’ll know, they’ve almost exclusively used English for the medium of song, and today’s birthday boy Teo (né Юрый Аляксеевіч Вашчук/Yuriy Alexeyevich Vashchuk) was no exception. He did his stuff in Copenhagen – you remember, the stage with the really high backdrop. He took a load of his mates along as backing singers, and it was refreshing to see them on stage with him, instead of shoved to the sidelines like so many backing singers these days. Anyway, He saw Belarus into the Grand Final for the second year in a row and, of his country’s six Grand Final appearances, his ties as their second-best performance. And go on, admit it, you’ll watch the song and then have craving for cheesecake.
Teo is 38 today.
З днём нараджэння, Teo!
