Or will we? This is undoubtedly good, and undoubtedly polished, and it looks great on screen but was a little underwhelming in the hall on second run through. Polina received the biggest cheer I’ve yet heard in the press centre.
It’s a pity she wasn’t here to hear it, it’s probably more than she’ll get on the night, poor thing.
It’s big, it ticks all the right boxes in all the right places and it looks beautiful on stage. I’m glad they’ve opted for a band set up rather than a clichéd arrangement where the singers assemble in a formation as the song progresses.
It removes a lot of the schmalz, which is exactly what it needs. It’s still chock full of aspartame, mind you. This will pull in a very decent result: top 5 at least, and it’s not out of the running by any stretch, but I’m not sure I agree with all those who already have us in Sochi for 2016. Though it would make good use of those Winter Olympic venues…
