ONEUROPE: Eurovision Song Contest news

Tag: Opera

Eurovision Opera is very different to actual operatic music. It’s usually a pop song with a bit of vocal gymnastics chucked in along the way. Think Il Divo meets Michael Ball, and you’re about there.

Because it’s a bit different to some of the regular drek submitted, a Eurovision Opera song stands out, and often has the fans excited. (See fanwank).

To really draw attention away from the fact the song is usually piss poor, broadcasters throw a lot at the staging – LEDs, fancy frocks, light shows, curtains of flame, and if there’s not a wind machine, someone isn’t doing their job.
