I can’t believe today’s song appeared on a Eurovision stage 28 years ago. I remember that contest as if it were yesterday.
It was a different age, when countries who do well these days were languishing at the bottom of the table. And countries who do badly now were high-fliers back in the 1990s. And then there are those countries that were there in the 1990s but have better things to do now. Such is Turkey, and Kayahan Açar. Unfortunately he died in 2015, but his winsome little song, sung to us as if he were sat in your lounge, is a nice little tribute to him.
Kayahan would have been 69 today.
