The word ‘treat’ is bandied around far too much these days. Things that are mildly interesting are called treats. Things that are the epitome of banality are called treat. You get the picture. But today is one of those true examples of a treat. And it’s a Friday treat to boot.
You’ll already have started to get a little moist because today’s birthday boy is Swedish. He’s also partly shaped the contest into the thing we know and love today. And it’s a big birthday for him, so it’s obviously not Eric Saade. It’s the one and only former hairdresser Christer Samuel Björkman. Star of stage and svengali of Melodifestivalen. Here’s his one turn as a performer, singing in his homeland – and finishing 22nd.
