9 December – You’ve become an obsession

Picture the scene. You’re a writer of credible music. This thing called Eurovision comes your way and you decide to have a crack at it. After all, your country has had modest success so it could be a lark. You write songs for a few years for other people for you can’t manage that crucial win. So the only thing for it is to try singing yourself.

This is what happened to today’s birthday boy Lars-Eric Gustav ‘Lasse’ Holm. In 1982, 1983 and 1985 his songs went to the big event in Harrogate/Munich/Gothenburg but didn’t win (8th/3rd/3rd). So here he is in 1986 with Monika Törnell and a cast that could have been put together by Oneurope. They came fifth. His other song-writing try in 1993 came 7th.

Lasse is 74 today.

Grattis på födelsedagen, Lasse!
