Day four in the tent! Rosé is hanging!

An early start today everyone as we have the big five plus Denmark rehearsing. My I’m exhausted I’ll tell you.

We dined after the rehearsals finished yesterday before popping into Huset or the eurocafe for one to be greeted by Emellie De Forest in the courtyard and her band giving a fine mini concert. She’s so lovely and pretty and her other songs seem great, I might have to get her album you know.

Then it was a taxi dash to the euroclub doubled in size last night as Lille Vega became Store Vega!

Colé Van Dais warbled her way through Teardrops AGAIN in Afrikaans and Conchita Wurst’s That’s What I Am AGAIN in English.

Sanna Neilsen appeared, a vision in a stunning royal blue figure hugging frock and glittery shoes. My she’s so tall. There were shrieks from many of the fannage who assumed that she’d only appear at the ‘invite only’ Nordic party held earlier in another part of the club. I never did check out that room. A medley of her hits accompanied by her backing troupe did her proud before she belted out Undo.

Then Carl Espen appeared talking briefly only in Norwegian, singing Silent Storm before being joined by it’s composer and cousin Josefin Winter onstage to sing an acoustic version of The White Stripes song Hotel Yorba. He’s great but obviously very shy and sweet and almost vulnerable and I really warmed to him last night.

Next up were family Firelight from Malta who also seem just lovely, the four siblings are so smiley and they seemed to be really enjoying themselves up there. Several guitar drenched, mid tempo classics were belted out and you couldn’t help but smile. Our Monty was taken with the percussionist Lesley who has a very good wrist action with his instruments, ahem…

My twin Tijana next from Macedonia and I loved her wacky performance. She’s just a little bit bonkers. She was in a cheap looking black top and black loose fitting leggings and had traded her trademark white frame glasses for black ones. She was being really mithered by the not so glitzy shoulder pads on said top and just yanked them off throwing them behind her. It really did look like she’d ripped her bra off, something I wouldn’t put passed her. She gave us an acoustic Molitva, a song by the To The Sky composer Negative from a few years back before a strong rendition of her entry. This girl can sing and work a room. I loved it.

Cristina ScarLAT (emphasis on the lat people) appeared in a ‘not dissimilar to Tijana’ black outfit lamenting the suffering of the people of Ukraine and giving us an emotionally charged rendition of Pray, her song from the Moldovan national final last year. Then she was joined by her hot backing dancers to give us Wild Soul, my those boys can move.

Last up was Kasey from Ireland in a figure hugging burnt orange number with huge ‘fuck me’ heels. She was really rather good and was joined on stage by her jigging guys and backing girls. If she could only perform like that on the Eurovision stage she would have no problem qualifying next week.

It was a fabulous concert up to that point but then just got better as the Eurofalsh gang from Tel Aviv were back to entertain us for over two hours. I say two hours, that Monty dragged me put of the venue as they were continuing at about 3am so they could still be going for all I know. I’ll do a piece all about them later as they really are going down a storm here already. Nothing could make me happier having got to know most of them on my many nights in Israel in my day job. They had costumes on last night and really did do the euroclub proud. Anyone know the Hebrew for absolutelybloodyfantastic?
