I know it’s my day off – but jury analysis is a bit revealing

Just did some jury analysis with Garrett from Eurovision Ireland. We’ve had a looksee and come up with the following – We’re just putting them out there.

106 Men, 79 Women ( 57%-43% split)

28 Juries go 3-2 male split, 7 Juries go with 3-2 Female Split, although Macedonia and Montenegro go 4-1 Male.

15 Juries have no-one under 30 years of age on their jury. 11 of which are Eastern Europe (Alb, Arm, Aut, Den, FYR, Geo, Hun, Ita, Lith, Mol, Nor, Pol, Rom, Rus, Ukr).

Demographically, the composition of the juries is thus:

Under 30 years of age – 20%
30-50 years of age – 62%
50-60 years of age – 12%
60+ years of age – 6%

Stats look about right to me. Glad to see the gender split isn’t too far off 50/50. It’s tempting to say that Eurovision is judged by a bunch of clueless, middle-aged farts but I don’t think it necessarily works like that. For example, Simon Cowell, aged 54, has no problem identifying the songs and singers (One Direction) that will have millions of 12 year old girls wetting their knickers across the globe……….

I think I can safely speak for the whole OnEurope team when I say that there’s absolutely no place for a bunch of clueless middle-aged men in passing judgement on this contest.

Jokes aside-I think it may prove an interesting year for the jury votes.
I think it will be a mix of predictable and less predictable voting. It will be intriguing to see where will it go
