Mahmood & BLANCO – Brividi
Like ‘Arcade’ before it, this song arrives with all the power of an articulated truck, crashing through many of the lesser efforts on show in what has turned out to be a decidedly average year for Eurovision.
There’s no doubting the stage skills of Mahmood, and having watched the Sanremo performance, BLANCO matches him note for note. Even if there are moments when the youngster takes the ‘shovel to a souflé’ approach to his contribution. My smallest of reservations come from the three minute edit which starts so well, but ends in an untidy bawling at each other crescendo.
Even in a strong year, this would be in with a shot, but given the Class of 22 isn’t built to linger, this has to stand every chance of giving Italy two in a row. An each-way bet would be wise, even though the odds are deservedly in the bookie’s favour by this point.
