Last year it was FYROM (now truncated to NM) who couldn’t decide which song to bring to Eurovision. They compromised and crammed three into their carry-on bags. This year that honour falls to Armenia.
Things start well, but a bridge too far later, and the chorus of an entirely different song kicks in. There’s another verse, another bridge and that killer chorus gets a welcome second airing. This time beefed up by a (rare) well-aimed key change.
By the end, I found myself enjoying ‘Walking Out’, and having seen a few live performance videos, it appears Srbuk has no performance worries.
It’s a shame it takes her two messy minutes to deliver Eurovision gold.
This one will be all about the staging.
