You can tell when some countries are really out for a win. And that is really out for a win. They up their game, they maybe get in some of the best writers and performers, and hope for the best.
However, sometimes, even when throwing all these resources at the contest, that win stays elusive. Our friends in Cyprus want that win, and almost did it in Lisbon. But in 2012, they sent today’s birthday girl Ήβη Αδάμου/Ivi Adamou with a not dis-similar song to 2018. Sadly, she was up against the behemoth that was Loreen. She did get Sweden’s maximum, which must count for something. She came 16th and scored one point more than Greece. Nevertheless, if you were in sunny Baku, you would have seen Ivi doing her best to make the most of her Eurovision experience. Maybe CyBC need her back.
Ivi is 27 today.
Χρόνια πολλά, Ivi!
