We go with a non-English language song today. And our friends in Denmark are sending a song to Turin in Danish. That’s twice in two years. It’s good to hear the language again.
Today’s birthday girl Birthe Wilke is at the other end of the Danish language’s journey through our favourite TV show. It came in 1957 and made an impression for at least one other reason. Birthe and her pal Gustav ambled their way through the song. And then… well you should watch the performance to the end to find out. What they did was so memorable – and daring for 1957 – that they got half the votes from one country, and votes from two others. Perhaps Birthe and Gustav were just too progressive.
Birthe is 86 today.
Tillykke med fødselsdagen, Birthe!
