I probably shouldn’t make confident predictions about stuff based on first rehearsal technical shenanigans. The static silhouettes are staying static, which is fair enough.
I have slight worries here. There are a lot of shots where we’re watching the one who isn’t singing watching the one who is. Elina is extremely good at acting these shots with her facial expressions. Stig only has one facial expression: “a bit bored”.
Now, narratively that’s fine. The story of the song is that he’s basically saying “Sorry chuck, we’re toast. You’re just talking at me now.” It’s unfortunate though. Don’t ever let your loyal viewer think that you’re a bit bored with the song you’re trying to win a contest with and then bugger off stage before it’s even finished. Schoolboy error.
The strength of the song carries this through to the final, of course. But I’m sensing that it might not be top table material after all. Time will tell.
