Ireland is not quite as bad as I believe it was in the first rehearsal. They have a great stage projection, Celtic knots and golds and greens, just in case you were still unsure of who was singing. Casey got better with each run through, looking more confident and sporting a frock not unlike Conchita’s. The dancing boys really irritate though, they add nothing and just seem to flounce around hammering home the this-is -the -Irish-song message. It’s not great, though, and they will need a wing and a prayer to get them through on Thursday night. Talk here is of accidental last place. Echoes of last year, only this time people mean in the semi final.
Belarus next and I’m sorry to report that Teo seems to have lost most of his charm. I had fancy this would come over with all the roguish charisma that he has in the video but it actually looks a bit messy. He has 4 male dancers and backing vocalists but the routine looks messy, and even a tad under-rehearsed. Up until now I had thought everything in this semi stood a chance, but after this I think Teo’s a definite no-no.
