It’s time we had a winner today. Just to remind us that every year in the Eurovision Song Contest, someone has to win. Whether they want to or not.
To be fair, I’ve gone back to the gloriously hair-lacquered 1970s, when brown was the colour to have, as were vast expanses of clothing and big hair. It was a win for today’s birthday boy יזהר כהן/Izhar Cohen, ably backed by the Alphabeta. Well, five of the Alphabeta. Mr Cohen won the contest at a canter, scoring five maxima in a row. But how do you think his song would do in a 21st Century contest?.
Izhar is 67 today.
יום הולדת שמח, יזהר!
