Seven o’ clock, you have to get out of your bed

That lyric seems like something some of us go through every year when we sneak into a Eurovision press bubble. It’s never as simple as turning up on a Monday evening and enjoying the show. You’re up watching those early rehearsals.

Bearing that in mind, someone had to do that back in 1986 when we were at the top of Europe (Åse’s words, not mine) and watch ten countries rehearse every day. It’s not all bad though when you get pleasant little ditties like today’s song. It’s Dutch – remember them – and in Dutch – remember that? And on such a small stage, it must have been a challenge to have four girls named Karin, Laura, Mandy and Marjon all dancing on stage like they did. The Germans must have liked them, coming second in their jury vote.
