We mainly pick soloists and duo to celebrate birthdays, but today we’re celebrating a member of a band. They have mixed success, and it was probably better in past times when they actually played their own instruments, rather than pretending like they do now.
In 1998, our friends in Poland tried the band route, fronted by today’s birthday girl Renata Dąbkowska. Sixteen were, confusingly, a six-piece band. They also sang in beautiful Polish, which they had to at the time. For such a whimsical song, it did badly with the televoters of Europe and less so with the jurors. Maybe because the three songs on after Poland made them forget.
Renata is 53 today.
Wszystkiego najlepszego, Renata!
