Oh good grief. This was, in its own way, worth staying for. Almost all of it is wrong, from Ovi’s smugness to some cloying staging. Paula appears at first through some camera trickery, as a hologram of herself before vanishing into thin air. Unfortunately she then reappears on the far side of the stage. At one point in the first run through they go in for some hugged over the shoulder singing which elicited peels of laughter from the assembled throng in the press centre. Truly awful. You get the impression that they probably think they have this in the bag after a third place in 2010, which is the worst thing they could possibly think. It should qualify, it’s engaging enough to do that, but oh my days is it going to be one big hot mess. Fab!
