You have to feel for those countries that don’t make a Grand Final. After all, many of them are singing songs they were given, so often the fault should lie with the songwriter.
Today’s birthday girl Eva Boto must have thought she was onto a winner. Her song was in Slovene. OK, well that doesn’t always work. But it was written by Vladimir Graić and Hajrudin “Hari” Varešanović of Hari Mata Hari fame. Between them, they’d written a winner and a runner-up. So what could possibly go wrong? Well, she scored off five Balkan nations. And Germany. But it must have confused the rest of Europe enough not to give it the right amount of points.
Eva is 27 today.
Vesel rojstni dan, Eva!
