So soon into August, and we have a winner. Yes, some of you may know that there were contests before 2000, and some countries you might laugh at now have managed to win it in the past. It’s not all Sw*d*n and D*n*a*k you know. So as today’s birthday girl is a winner, she deserves a little respect, right? Well, you be the judge.
I say that because there was alleged controversy about the win of María de los Ángeles Felisa Santamaría Espinosa, (aka Massiel), as there are stories that her win was bought. Everyone thought a certain Harry Webb had the win sewn up – including the screaming crowd – so it came as a bit of a shock when Germany gave six points to Spain.
Massiel is 75 today.
Feliz cumpleaños, Massiel!
