Nick: Sweden are being perfectly all right. Nothing wrong with it at all, and as such it could well merit the usual Norwegian result. Not that I would want to stick my neck out or anything, but it’s giving me that “Yeah, but why vote for this and not something else?” buzz. I am, of course, insane. You really shouldn’t be taking advice from a turophilic (absolutely our new favourite word) John Tracy lookalike.
Phil: The Ark will be playing to the crowd just a little too much one feels. The lead singer is the consummate performer, without doubt, but from my seat in block 111 row 22, it appears that he is trying TOO hard to be pastiche-esque, and that is losing it a lot of votes I suspect. If someone close to SVT is reading this, can you tell them to tone it down and they’ll do well. This song has potential to die on its arse if he is not very careful. There is a line between pastiche and desperate, this is on the border crossing.
