6 April – On the wet sand, we talk a bit

Many people have trodden the boards more than once, some with aplomb, and some doing stuff we’d rather not talk about. And I’m not possibly going to mention singers from the world’s oldest republic.

But today we have a lady who’s been in it four times. Admittedly, today’s birthday girl Sue Schell was part of a trio. But what a trio. They never won, although came close in this, their final attempt. They sang in four different languages in their four appearances. They even once performed surrounded by garden furniture. And, importantly, they performed in this year’s home country. In my humble opinion, this is one of the best Eurovision songs ever.

Sue is 69 today.

Buon compleanno/Frohe Geburtstag/Bonne anniversaire, Sue
