Morning all!!
Of *course* Cyprus wasn’t going to reveal everything on time this morning because, well, it’s bound to be so damned complicated. If this is going back-to-back with Ireland, then there is going to be a lot of trouble with the stage crew demanding more money from the Dutch unions.
We heard before we saw it that they had mirrors on stage which would explain the long set-up time, but then she burst into life… for all of about 40 seconds, whereupon we had an abortive attempt at the song when her mic pack came out and fell on the stage.
When she did open her mouth, well, I think the phrase that I’m looking for is underwhelming. I’m not for one moment saying that I thought it was bad. Far from it, I just felt that it lacked an element of oomph. Yes I know that it’s a rehearsal, and I know it’s 10.30am in Eurovisionia, but this is your one shot to get a camera rehearsal spot on, because you’ll be looking at it afterwards. I felt as though she was just going through the motions. The mirrors on the stage were a nice touch but seemed to unnecessarily complicate the performance for me
The two things it does do is qualify, definitely, and knock Ireland out of the running.
