Austrian broadcaster ORF will choose an entry for Eurovision 2023 internally, with plans to announce both performer and song early next year.

Austrian news website Kleine Zeitung reported today that fifteen acts are on an ORF shortlist, created by Eberhard Forster, the leader of the Austrian scouting delegation, and Lukas Hillebrand. Last weekend, they were invited to perform for the an internal jury of Austrian and international music experts. There’s also suggestion that ORF will get input from Eurovision fan clubs.

ORF program director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz and entertainment director Alexander Hofer will choose the act they’ll send to Liverpool, hoping to improve on last year’s dismal result. ‘Halo’ by LUM!X and Pia Maria (pictured) failed to advance from 2022’s first semi-final, finishing 15th with 42 points.
