Eurovision’s nostalgia trip continues in Iceland

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I swear I have been transported to a parallel universe of Eurovision where the millenials have been brushed aside and the old guard is coming back.  First it was Bobbysocks! and now, in Iceland, It’s the man that was robbed of winning Eurovision 1992 by not getting chosen , Bjarni Arason (with this, for the record)

A robbery of the highest order, I think you’ll agree.

Anyhow, this year Iceland have stopped being all controversial and shit and got back to what they know and love with a song contest of dubious quality to pick a song that will finish in the lower reaches of the scoreboard.  Anyhow we have 10 songs divided neatly into two Semi Finals in this arrangement.

Those Semi Finals will be on the 8th and 15th February with the final, consisting of six songs, three from each going through, taking place on the 22nd.   There is also going to be NO SUPERFINAL this year, just the public and jury votes in the one round of voting deciding the winner.   A Superfinal has always been unnecessary in a six song final anyway.

You’ll be wanting to hear those ten masterpieces then yes? – Here is RUVs official playlist.  Enjoy!
