YLE has talked Finnish DJ Darude into representing his homeland at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. He’ll present three songs at the UMK contest on 2 March. Viewers get to decide which one gets the Eurovision nod.
Given Darude can’t hold a tune in a bucket, vocals are to come from 41-year-old Great Leap rocker Sebastian Rejman. We get to hear one song a week starting 8 February.
Speaking about the gig, the DJ noted: “This is a huge challenge for me in many ways. When I was asked to represent Finland I felt a bit scared at first, but there was no way I could say no to my country! It is an honour to be part of this incredible experience and I only have positive expectations!”
Also known as Ville Virtanen, Darude enjoyed international success almost 20 years ago with ‘Sandstorm’.
