Eurovision Countdown 24 – Norway according to Mo

Imagine, if you will, one of those dark and brooding scandi-noir detective dramas turned into a three-minute rock song. And you have ‘Ulveham’.

It’s dramatic, powerful, and incredibly watchable – not to mention a total departure for Norway, a country that has bumped along the lower end of the musical diversity scale in recent years. Not that being bland has done NRK any harm on the scoreboard. For that alone, I applaud this risk-taker of a song.

If I had to pick fault, I might suggest the vocals start out somewhat flat because they are so exposed, but the whole ‘being in Norwegian’ thing will mask any issues with nerves that could crop up.

10 pointsShades of Within Temptation, and almost surely in with a very good chance.
