Phil’s Eurovision Countdown – Part 27/37 – Norway

I can’t lie – Super Rob and Erica-from-Norwich lost the quiz of the week and I was here for that, well that and the twitter/X meltdown that followed.

What I wasn’t prepared for was Gåte coming along and blowing it out of the water by singing a song which is about a witch.

No, not that one.. and not Bambi Thug either – sadly – but this song has got some appeal, probably to those people in Finland that liked dark goth metal from their own country.  This is clearly ploughing its own way in this contest and will find its people in the same way that The Rasmus did a couple of years ago but I don’t know how many of those kind of people they are in a televote Semi Final.

6 pointsThe performance at the MGP got very old very quickly for me as it turned from ethereal to a shouty noise towards the latter stages of the performance for me and, if I am honest with you, the last 45 seconds of the song were more white noise rather than a cohesive piece of music.   That said, It does get under your skin and I’m not it’s target audience, but I can see who would be. .
