The penultimate national final of the year, Melodifestivalen 2023, concluded in the massive Friends Arena in Solna. As usual, it was the climax of a six week Swedish selection for Swedish people that just happens to be attached to the Eurovision Song Contest – exactly as it should be in my opinion.
There was, though, only one question on everybody’s lips. Would THEOZ win? *checks notes* – sorry. I meant would LOREEN continue her seemingly unstoppable march towards the title.
Well after the jury and televote the results were:

So to the surprise of literally no one, she’s fooled the Swedes and Europe again – Loreen gets to have another go at mumbling her way through a Eurovision with a song that really isn’t the second coming – thankfully her Breville sandwich toaster that weighs in at an astonishing 1.8 tonnes will not be going to Liverpool – but strap in and do what I did and pour yourself a triple brandy Europe, because the world and his wife will tell you repeatedly that Sweden have now won the Eurovision.
They haven’t – there are still 35 other contenders… and Spain.
Fully agree
So. Any decent songs this year? Besides Spain? Nope.
