We’ve already told you about how Norwegian broadcaster NRK plans to beef up its national selection, marking sixty years of Melodi Grand Prix.
As always the grand final features ten songs. The difference this year is that newcomers get to compete for some of the spots. Today NRK named the five acts who have already secured a place in the final. For the next five weeks, a series of four-song semi-finals take place. One each for north, south, east, west and central Norway. From each ‘semi final’ one competitor wins a place in the big show.
To keep things ticking along, at each semi-final one of the pre-qualified acts gets to lord it over the others and sing their entry.
We’ll get to hear one of the qualified songs each Friday. Each Monday – starting today – we get to hear the week’s four hopefuls.
The finalists are:
- Didrik & Emil – Out of air
- Ulrikke Brandstorp – Attention
- Akuvi – Som du er
- Sondrey – Take my time
- Tone Damli – Hurts sometimes
Here’s this week’s (South Norway) semi-finalists:
- Kim Rysstad – Rainbow
- Raylee – Wild
- Geirmund – Come alive
- Lisa Børud – Talking about us
