The first time we saw this on Tuesday, I said that it was flat and today’s twenty minutes have not made me think differently.
The first camera shot is very negative – it zooms out from Jess and the lighting is very dark. The song doesn’t get “lit” until 35 seconds in, and by then your average televoter (and most of them are very average) won’t be hooked into the song because a) they can’t see it and b) Jessica still hasn’t connected with them. The first time she looks at the camera is 45 seconds in, and by that point Europe will have switched its attention to drinks and dips.
Once she has lost the viewers, it doesn’t matter what she does (and, for the record she’s performing a very average pop song in a frock that can be described as “ill-advised” because, let’s be honest, it’s not flattering). She’s also missing some of the notes, and some of the choreography looks forced. As John from Eurovision Ireland said, he could see her counting the moves in her head.
This isn’t going to win, and will come nowhere without radical changes.

In her own words: “To anyone who thinks that Australia shouldn’t be in Eurovision — it breaks my heart! I don’t know what else to say than… Just give us a go!”
