You might need to have a good look around for today’s birthday boy. He doesn’t lead the singing, but is the power behind the group that partly bears his name.
Are you confused? I am, and I know what I’m talking about. This song actually caught my eye today because of the unusual nature of the language used. I love uniqueness, so this song in Breton is one I think is quite special. Birthday boy Dan Ar Braz (né Daniel le Bras) gathered a collection of musicians together with a celtic bent, including Scots and Welsh, as well as some native Bretons with the lovely little instruments. The juries of Europe didn’t completely take to this language, but you have to admire our French friends for trying it.
Dan is 69 today.
Deiz-ha-bloaz laouen/Bonne anniversaire, Dan!
