17 January – Love goes away

We’ve had a few birthdays from the era of colour, so it’s only fair we remember our heritage. Those days when everyone in western Europe had to watch, because there were no other channels to tune into.

Some stars from those far-off days are still names in the music industry, and one of those has a birthday today. The legendary yé-yé performer (among other things) Françoise Madeleine Hardy was already well-known when she went to London in 1963. Born in France, she sang for the Principality of Monaco. She managed a fifth place in what was a very groovy little contest won by a very cool winner. Any other year in the 1960s, she probably would have won.

Françoise is 75 today.

Bonne anniversaire, Françoise!
