Everyone loves a tryer. Eurovision has thrown up more than its fair share of them. You know the type – the singer that keeps coming back and missing out. Valentina Monetta, bless her, is one of the most recent examples. She’s not alone. From the early days Fud Leclerc tried four – yes four – times and couldn’t manage a win. Peter, Sue & Marc are another bunch, and should have had at least one win (cough 1981 cough). And that brings us to today’s birthday girl Chiara Siracusa from the Med’s happiest rock. She managed a third place, a second place, and an, erm, 22nd place.
At least she’s never been stranded in a semi-final.
Chiara is 40 today.
