It’s that birthday you’ve been waiting for. Why, you may ask? Well, this person is a bit of a giant in Eurovision circles. They’ve participated three times in our favourite TV show, and has even won the thing. The first thing you might notice about this video is that it’s in the same venue as yesterday’s, replete with giant electric fire. Admittedly, different heating elements are lit for this one, as the German set designers wanted to give us some variety.
The lucky birthday girl is Carola Maria Häggkvist-Søgaard-Häggkvist – you might know her as Carola. In this video of her (in my opinion) best song, Främling, she was apparently only 16. You be the judge.
Carola is 52 (yes, really) today.
