Serbia – Princ – Mila
Good news for those of you that have followed my journey – I’m back at home now, and in my computer chair, so things are back on track Eurovision-wise.
I do love a long haired man though, and Princ (not his real name) certainly has a nice length (fnarr) … of hair, you filthy beasts. But what about the song? It was the only decent thing in the whole Serbian final, which in itself is a damning indictment of that selection! It starts off like all other Balkan ballads, with Princ singing about Mila very earnestly and tearing his heart out in the same way that us tired old Eurofans have heard a hundred times before.
I then expect the song to go somewhere after the first verse and chorus and, to my surprise, Richard Clayderman plays a bit of the old piano in the space where the middle eight should be, and then we are back with Princ … still tearing his heart out, but this time with the aid of some rock guitars and long notes. I also don’t like how the song ends. Instead of building to a climax, they just sort of….fade the song out, which is annoying
I feel that this song is about fifteen years out of date, and sung by someone of the wrong sex. It could have been so much more, but it just flatters to deceive.

I am a sucker for a good Balkan ballad. I think it’s the 2nd time, I am mentioning this during this year countdown. However a good Balkan ballad will grab you and will pull you into the song. Sadly, this isn’t doing anything a good Balkan ballad should do. It remain flat to the point of being just a plain, uninteresting song.
