One thing in Darude’s favour – he won’t be using the fool who staged the Finnish song in 2018.
The UMK performance made excellent use of one big prop and tied it in with the song – something increasingly rare on the Eurovision stage.
I’m probably one of the few people who think Sebastian Reijmans has a great voice for ‘Look away’. What I struggle with is the tribute act rock singer stage prancing. Calm this down and it becomes less of a distraction.
The problems could come with an insistence by YLE that the cameras focus on Darude. The casual viewer won’t have a clue who the guy with the soul patch is.
It’s not a bad entry, but ‘Look Away’ goes nowhere particularly fast, and I’m unsure where its appeal lies. It feels too old school for younger voters and nowhere near remarkable enough for those who remember Darude’s glory day.
