Jurij is another from the talent show circuit and it won’t be his first time on the Eurovision stage, having previously provided backing vocals (though not for Lithuania). He’s a handsome chap, but my overall impression is that the singer is much stronger than the song.
‘Run with the lions’ leaves little lasting impression. It’s perfectly inoffensive on one level, and yet manages to irritate with the stylised lion roars dubbed into the chorus.
Given two of the songwriters are native English speakers, there can be little excuse for lines like ‘You don’t got to hurt away’ and the extended lion/caged metaphor.
I can’t see this turning many a jury head and given Lithuania appear to have few strategic friends in the world of televoting, it’s unlikely to score highly there either.
I doubt we’ll hear this on Saturday.
