There was much fuss when Ester Peony won the Romanian national final despite scoring low with the viewing public. But she’s put all that behind her, revamped the song (slightly) and is up for a fight in Israel.
I’ve heard this more than most of the other songs. Not by choice. It just happened. ‘On a Sunday’ is picked by some YouTube algorithm to play after each song I preview.
And it’s worked its way into my head.
But that could be its downfall. The song isn’t instant. The vocals are an acquired taste and Peony’s jerky stage presence isn’t an easy watch.
If this song makes the final, it’ll be by the skin of its red wine and nicotine-stained teeth.
