Today we delve into that murky realm of the repeat performer. You know the one. They have a stab at winning the thing, they get an admirable result, and then try again.
It’s that second attempt that lets them down. Time after time they do worse. I’m looking at you Dana International. Today’s birthday boy Thomas Forstner fell into the same trap. In 1989 he made the short trip to Lausanne .and finished fifth. He should have left it at that, as Austria would never ever win the contest again, would they? But he came back in 1991 and couldn’t quite make it to fifth. All of that good work in Switzerland came undone with his 22nd place and zero points. So guess which song I’ve picked?
Thomas is 49 today.
Frohe Geburtstag, Thomas!
